Day three of my new exercise regime (a whopping 15 minute workout watching Exercise TV) and I'm having trouble getting up the stairs today...well I'm having trouble just walking in general. But hey, aren't I looking good??

here for my latest column - about my husband's new health kick! Poor guy's life is an open book. Sorry honey!!
the real question is, if this catches on in your household, will you be able to find single sized servings of all these healthy things to throw into your children's lunchboxes? We all know how you like to pack your lunches.....one non-recyclable, non-organic, sugar-laden, high fructose item at a time.....
ReplyDeleteDear Miss Tabb - You are my "dear abby" for the day - can you please clear up something for me? When is too early to begin fighting about the holidays? Years past we didn't make our Thanksgiving Day plans until the Wednesday night before. Now, it's Oct. 1 and I am trying to beat the rush! I send an email to family (all inlaws mind you!!!) and try to "high-hosie" the day to no avail. It's not that I have been beat to the punch, it's that I refuse to comply with all their demands. Not only must I serve the fourteen course meal, all with my "suzie homemaker" face on, I must also now include 1 deadbeat dad (who just got released from prison), 1 deadbeat mom (who thinks this deadbeat dad is a catch!), and 2 out of control children (who don't know what to make of this whole situation). So begins the family drama season.....
ReplyDeleteHey anonymous...
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. The holidays can be so stressful, especially when you are the one doing all the work and trying to "keep the peace." My solution is to avoid the whole darn thing like we are for Thanksgiving. Rather than hosting, we are jumping on a plane, just the 4 of us, to New York City. We are going to the Rockets, the Today show (look for us mugging for the camera the Friday after Turkey Day), AG salon, etc. It's avoidance but it works!!
Good luck my friend.
Thanks for the advice Miss Tabb - any room for more in your hotel room? NY for Thanksgiving!!! How great!!! Someday we will escape our family obligations (at least that's what my husband keeps promising!!)
ReplyDeleteI couldn’t agree more with the response to the 'dear abby" comment. While I love our families, I don’t think we need to spend every holiday with all of them. My favorite holiday of all time was our first Thanksgiving together when we stole away to a B&B in Kennebunkport, leaving all family members behind. We had Thanksgiving dinner with a group of about 15 strangers, including that weird couple Dan and Marsha, who said they were the richest people Chelsea (quite a claim to fame), and who I think wanted us to swing with them. No thanks, freaks. Running away from the family at holidays can be fun.
ReplyDeleteExample of taking this too far: A young mother should not leave her husband and baby alone for the baby’s first Easter, claiming that a boondoggle in Cozumel with 100 random radio listeners is a ‘required work trip’. This prompts worshipers at the Easter Sunday mass to stare pitifully at the solo husband, assuming he is a widower, while the wife does body shots of tequila in Mexico.
Regarding the Thanksgiving trip, we need advice on best spot to see the Macy’s parade. Anyone got some?
Lastly, I think you should make "Dear TABBy" a regular feature on the blog.
Thanks Resident Dad for your comments. How sad for you to be alone on your baby's first easter - can't imagine the type of mom who would do that! Although, I do have to say body shots in Cozumel with one hundred strangers sounds pretty inticing too.....hmm, guess I'm on the fence about this one.....
ReplyDeleteWe've solved the holiday issue - I have succeeded in pissing off every member of mentioned family and they refuse to come for dinner - YIPEE!!! Am totally off the hook!!!! We are looking into mexican resturants that will serve tequilla shots in lieu of turkey and all the trimmings....family is WAAAY overrated!!!
Love the "dear TABBy...." you're so smart resident dad!!! Although after reading resident mom's article yesterday I am concerned that we may have lost you to the other side...granola?? yogurt?? who are you?? pretty soon I'll see a picture of you on the front page of the paper in your Speedo!!!!
Dear Miss Tabby - I have sent a photo to your home email address - hoping you can post this and ask your readers if any of them are into horticulture - I am not sure what this plant is that I am growing in my yard....any help you can give me on this one would be greatly appreciated!!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, a very curious find, indeed. What kind of fertilizer do you use?
