Best of the Worst

It's official. I have DCIS - very early stage cancer, very small, very treatable. However, whenever you hear the "C" word, it invokes sheer terror. I am fortunate that I will only have to endure 6 weeks of radiation. I have an MRI this Saturday and as long as there are no surprises, that is my treatment. As much as I didn't want to join this club, I am among women who have had to suffer much worse. For that, and all my friends, I am grateful.

So...looking on the bright side...I will be getting my first tattoo...who knew? Little tiny dots they tattoo on your boob. Might catch on as a trend. Perhaps I'll request a more interesting design.

It has been a very strange couple of months - you have cancer, no just kidding, oops maybe, oh yeah sort of...what would attorney Jim Sokolove say? Oh, nevermind...

Now that I'm starting to wrap my hands around all this - it's a process - I promise to write daily or as close to it as possible. Thanks for those of you who have stayed loyal.

Back to the nonsense of life...

You can do this Sue! All will be well and you will be around to see your daughters grow up, start careers, get married, have families and all that good stuff. This is just a minor bump (or lump?) in the road but yes, it totally sucks. (At least you will likely get to keep your Nancy Bradford hairstyle!) Seriously, hang in there - and get ready to book that vacation - bring brochures of warm, sunny places with you to treatment to pass the time in a positive way.

I'm thinking if you are getting a tatoo - be a real woman and do a tramp stamp - you'll be a great role model for the girls!!!
