It's taken some time, but I think I have finally adopted a more postive attitude about my recent diagnosis. Sure, it's going to be a long road ahead but it doesn't mean I have to be miserable about taking it. I need to schedule in some very regular fun every day. I really think that's the key. We make sure our kids have fun every day, why can't we? I'm taking some of the time back for me. And I'm not going to feel guilty about it.
APD's...adult play dates. What's wrong with us? Why is our generation so damn serious all the time. All work, no play. Constant stress. Look, we can't avoid it all together like Oprah would have us believe because we have jobs and families to raise but really, we could do a better job at having just a little bit of fun each day. I don't care what it is - a quick manicure, reading a People magazine, hitting some golf balls, going for a walk, meeting a friend for a cup of coffee, there are hundreds of them. We can find the time...even if it means being what we've been programmed to believe is selfish. Nonsense!

I bought myself flowers yesterday and I'm meeting a friend for a glass of wine at a Mexican restaurant tonight. Hmmm, need to think of an APD for tomorrow since I have a mammogram to get through. Any ideas welcome.
Have a fun day,

Sue--I'm sorry you're on this particular road, but I agree scheduled times of fun will make your journey better! I'm trying to think of fun things to do--would love to paint my toenails very wacky, ready for pansies in a window box, wish there was a place to play with clay and make a pot or something. Cea
ReplyDeleteThanks Cea,
ReplyDeleteYes, wacky toenails would be fun...I like it!! Spring is coming so they'll be more options. I will get through this with the help of people like you. Thanks so much. We'll all celebrate when I'm on the other side. Can't wait for that.

But you call me when you want to play...OK!!!!
thinking instead of a meal calendar I should set up a "play date" schedule for you!!! (alright, resident dad, we'll still do dinners - we know you guys will starve if we don't do that part....) we'll add play dates!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the idea of play dates...next post I think I'll solicit for ideas. Should get some interesting ones!!
