As most of you know, I've been eagerly awaiting the premiere of
Dancing with the Stars so here is my quick assessment of last night's show. Chloris Leachman was initially funny but then took it one leg-hoisting leap too far and became crass and, frankly, uncomfortable to watch ('Phyllis' is one dirty bird!). Susan Lucci was stiff and seemed to be having trouble
not being Erica Kane, disappointing. My favorites were Brooke Burke and Toni Braxton, also thought Lance Bass did well. More dancing tonight - good week for television...lot's of shows kick off this week.
On another note, is anyone else struggling with how your kids dress for school? My 9-year-old refuses to let me pick out her clothes and generally chooses clothes that I wouldn't clean the garage in (despite begging me for those high priced items at Aeropostale and Limited Too.) I yearn for the days I could put them in cute little matching outfits and they had no opinion whatsoever. Why do we teach our kids to have the confidence to make decisions and voice their opinions when it always comes back to bite us in the fanny? Just wondering aloud...

ReplyDeleteYou can call this comment “Real Resident Dad Weighs In”. To clarify, Mike Katz from Friday’s post does not reside with us, so I think he should be identified as “Virtual Resident Dad” going forward, unless there is something you need to tell me… Although I was slightly intimidated by his appearance as ‘resident dad’ on your blog, I definitely like his idea about alcohol at parents’ night. I am sure, however, that our local Montessori community would not agree. To prove that I am the real resident Dad, I don’t think Mr. Katz is privy to the kind of insider information I uncovered just this evening from Daughter A, yelling from the shower, “Guess what? Daughter B doesn’t believe I pee in the shower, even though she caught me mid-pee.” While I didn’t respond, all I could think was, “Cool. I thought I was the only one who peed in the shower.” Who needs a son? We have more in common than I thought. This may cause you, and your readers, to think differently about where and when you wear crocs! PS. What’s up with the silly photo with the giraffe? I’ll give you 10 bucks to remove it immediately. Love, Real Resident Dad
ReplyDeleteDear Real Resident Dad,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with the entire virtual community that you pee in the shower. I'm so proud. Love, the resident mom.
Dear "real resident Dad" - don't knock your local Montessori school - give them a chance - how do you know they would frown upon the idea of alcohol at parent nights? Isn't the whole montessori philosophy to "follow the child" - why then, should it be any different for parents - why not "follow the parent" right down to Agave for a margarita. Or the use of manipulatives and hands on stuff - this too is a cornerstone of montessori learning. I had the pleasure of attending parent night at my montessori school the other night - we were shown examples of work the children do - one such "work" is pouring - while I found this to be informative, the pouring activity would have kept my attention longer if we were pouring margaritas, not just pretty blue sand....... yours truly, another montessorian......
ReplyDeleteregarding your photos - is tom your current husband? he looks vaguely familiar - think I may have slept with him in high school......
