Oink, Oink! There's Goes Our Trip to Mexico!

Last I left you I had such a sunny outlook and now the swine have my tongue.

What are the odds that a nice couple (us) would plan a rather extravagant getaway (ridiculously expensive trip) to a tropical place (sunny Cancun) to celebrate a happy occasion (my graduation from radiation) and that, as they reach the final stretch, said tropical place becomes infected with the Swine Flu in what could be epedemic proportions?

The odds would be impossibly slight but...it happened! And now, we get the privilege of fighting with Expedia to try and recover our money, transfer our flight, cancel the resort and figure out where on earth we can go to escape the madness. So, if anyone has any ideas, send them along. Just hit "comment" below - help me readers!

Gotta go see who will get kicked off Idol tonight. My prediction...Matt or Alison.

Sweet Dreams,
Sue

Just heard about this place in Ogunquit, ME called White Cliff??? I think... No airport necessary! They have great spa packages and weekend packages that include lobster dinner and breakfast. It is right on the ocean and the spa building is adults only.

    Good luck with everything!

  5. Thanks anonymous, you're right, the Cliff House is really nice. We've been there. The problem is that we want a tropical locale and we aren't even sure if we'll be able to cross borders by then so for now it's a lot of wait and see. I'm so bummed. I've been looking at the virtual tour of this resort in Mexico for a month. I had my hammock over the pool all picked out. Crap!!!!

    Hi Sue,
I heard on the news that airline and travel agents were waving transfer fees to people who need to change their travel plans. Hopefully they will do that for people who have booked their trips online... Good luck! I am so sorry you have to change your plans, but I am sure you will find some other wonderful place to go!!!

I read that lots of people who had plans to go to Mexico are switching to Aruba - beautiful weather, beaches, and many all inclusive options with direct flights from Boston. Good luck.

Joanne - love your "henie flu" observation!!!
Sue - go to FLA - tons of nice resorts (read: child free!) there - think they have swingers there too, so don't be disappointed that you are missing the "adult resort" you were going to.....mexico will always be there - do florida, or bermuda!!! As nice as Cliff House is, go somewhere warm (that has tropical drinks and swim up bars.....)
